Nephrology Nursing 1
Nephrology Nursing 1 course is designed as a foundational overview of Nephrology Nursing. The goal is to increase nurses' understanding of the assessment, management and care of adult patients living with renal diseases. The course content will focus on renal anatomy and physiology, assessment and management of acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease, diagnostics and pharmacology, an overview of dialysis modalities and continuing care of the renal patient. Students will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and critical thinking through individual course assignments, group presentations, and final examination.
The target audience for this course includes nurses working with broader populations with some degree of renal impairment, for example, nurses working on medical/surgical units as well as nurses working exclusively with renal patients such as on an inpatient nephrology unit.
