Course Description:
The four day course is designed to enhance a nurse's skills (RN and RPN) in performing a complete (head to toe) physical & health assessment across the adult lifespan. A course workbook is provided and theory is used to enhance the Lab experience.
The primary health care model (preventative health) is the framework in which effective communication skills and examination techniques will be covered pertaining to each body system.
Course Objectives:
- Promote health and disease prevention through effective physical and health assessment.
- Effective communication with the patient and health care team during all aspects of care across the adult lifespan (interview, assessment and documentation).
- Demonstrate correct physical assessment examination techniques of all body systems appropriate to scope of practice (RN and RPN).
Ability to integrate standard precautions of infection prevention and control into physical and health assessment.
